Dennis Ellsworth writes around life experience and emotion in a poetic way, full of imagery, and classic melody, sung in a rich, confident voice.
Since 2009, he has released two award winning albums with his group Haunted Hearts, a solo EP, and five full-length solo albums.
Invitations to participate in a number of professional songwriters’ workshops confirmed his satisfaction with collaboration and he has since signed a publishing deal with CYMBA Music Publishing, based in Toronto, ON.
Dennis latest album, Things Change, produced by Joel Plaskett was released earlier in April 2018. Things Change is a brilliant convergence of Ellsworth irresistible power pop songwriting chops with Plaskett and co.’s trademark vintage guitar-driven sound.
Teaming up with Joel at New Scotland Yard studio in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia became a totally immersive experience for Ellsworth that opened up many new creative possibilities and in January 2019, recognizing this work, he was awarded the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year for She's Never Wrong.
Ellsworth has never hesitated to seek out the right people for specific projects and as a result it has lead to him build an impressive body of work with a wide range of professionals. He is driven to create meaningful, timeless music that inspires his listeners.
Dennis Ellsworth has also been focusing on work as a producer. His latest work is Tara MacLean’s next release, tentatively scheduled for release in the summer of 2019. In May 2019, is scheduled to produce an album of songs he co-wrote with British Columbia songwriter, Renee Powers. If this weren’t enough, he is currently at work on his next and first self produced album. In 2019, he has plans to release a series of singles that will lead to the release of the aforementioned new album.
Ellsworth has signed with the New-Brunswick based booking and management agency Cool Cats Agency and plans are in motion to keep Dennis Ellsworth busy touring, writing, recording and producing.

‘’ Things Change Upon an initial spin, sounds like a departure for the songwriter. Gone is the alt-country sound that’s served as his wheelhouse. Replacing the roots vibe is a radio-friendly wall of sound, with a sprinkle of pop. Listen deeper, and you’ll still hear the poetic lyrics, and Ellsworth’s ability to make a song speak to us all – confirming Karr’s words. The building blocks of this songwriter’s art remain the same.’’

The East (September 21 2018) : http://www.theeastmag.com/2018/09/11/new-music-dennis-ellsworths-perfectly-packaged-things-change/
‘‘Each song is unique despite this framework. The tracks stand strongly on their own, but they share similarities in production, and the melodies all complement each other perfectly. So, while listening to any one track would be an enjoyable experience in itself, it’s almost a waste not to listen to the album front to back.’’

space for inspiration and collaboration, says he knows within the first few minutes
of working on a song if he’s on to something. “If I’m not I’ll go and do something
else,” he says with a laugh.’’
